A 1000 shall fall at thy side and 10,000 at thy right hand but it shall not come near onto you.
Have you been keeping count?
There is still room at your right side and at your right hand.
Sounds exciting doesn’t it?
Here’s the thing though…
This promise is for those who “DWELL” in the secret place of the most High. It doesn’t extend to visitors. Don’t believe me? See for yourself:
Psalm 91:1-7 (KJV)
1 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
2 I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.
3 Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.
4 He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.
5 Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;
6 Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.
7 A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.
The Webster’s Dictionary defines DWELL
“To abide as a permanent resident, or to inhabit for a time; to live in a place; to have a habitation for some time or permanence.”
Let’s put things into perspective now…
You can’t be in and out of Christendom, in and out of living right, in and out of your purpose, in and out of obedience etc. and still expect the benefits of God’s promises.. Worse not when you are on one of your “out” trips.
Think about it.
When you visit another country, you are a visitor and therefore not entitled to “citizen” rights in that country. So you can’t lay claim to certain benefits and privileges as one who is a citizen. Therefore, quoting how many are going to fall at your side is of no weight if you are not “dwelling” in Christ but only visiting based on your actions and mindset.
Another thing…
When you dwell somewhere isn’t it also fair to expect that you contribute towards the maintenance, upkeep and promotion of wherever you dwell? So let’s check:
Has your speech and actions been promoting the Kingdom of God and His will? If not, then you are a freeloader and unproductive and God does not keep unfruitful branches. He removes them.
Know where you stand: dwelling or visiting.
So yes, God’s promises still stand… BUT… it is for those who are standing/kneeling/sitting/working/praying/walking/talking etc (aka dwelling/living) in Him.
